...one of two 'holiday trees' created by matty stanfield

…When one has a cat named Lola who enjoys tossing down items to a tiny dog named Bagel — who then feels the need to eat those items — a traditional tree is simply out of the question. So, this year — with Mr. B’s assistance — I made two flat “trees” which are fully Lola/Bagel proof’d — this is the first tree. I call it The Star of Barbra! …please note the Wild At Heart ornament. …Most proud of that touch!

And, here is the second ‘tree’:

...probably the more artsy of the two trees -- I mean a Goldfrapp ornament!?!?

…please note the way cool Edie and David Bowie ornaments!

All n all — odd holiday trees — so it is quite fitting for our home. I doubt that there are many trees decorated in this manner and this brings me comfort. However, I suspect it might be a bit worrying for Little Bagel…

    Bagel is so amazingly cute!
I like the trees. I’m most fond of quirky, original ideas on the Christmas Tree theme. I’ve made a few over the years. My kids tend to like the traditional live trees best. Don’t know yet what we’ll do this year.

Rick! Why thank you! Yes, a Star of Barbra is far more fun than the Star of David. …this is my personal opinion.

Urspo & Alan! Thank you! …well, they are Little Bagel and Lola proof! lol!

Great idea for the trees! Many years ago my cat Fritz used to enjoy taking the decorations off the tree, so we put them up a bit higher but he just climbed up and took them down! I never thought of making a flat tree, and poor Fritz is now long gone. he did live to be 20 tho’!!

Sagittarian! Hi! I miss you! I’m sorry I’ve been such a lousy blogger of late! I must catch up!

Thanks! Yeah, I don’t think cats and xmas trees mix.

But, I’m sure Fritz brought much more joy to your world than any holiday tree! 20 is an amazing age for a kitty. …tho, I don’t think one is ever ready to say goodbye. My “babies” are just that to me — my babies. The harsh side of having a pet — losing them.

Wait. Where did my holiday sprit just go?

Fabulous trees Matty! Babs would be honoured if she knew!

Bagel looks cold. Where is her little pink coat? Did she remove it again? Love your trees. They are just like you. Creative and pragmatic cool at the same time. Bab’s would be proud. Love ya! A.
