TASTE THE DIFFERENCE

Just a few weeks before Goldfrapp officially ‘drops’ their new CD. This isn’t the official cover of that CD, but this was the first image I ever saw from the initial photo shoot and remains my favorite. The CD will be arriving around 2.25.08.

Not so much glitter as shimmer. More natural fibers than broken disco balls. However, that smooth cool flavor remains. It will be interesting to see how people respond. I’m going to try to attach the new vid-clip, but I’m not good at this video – adding business.

Note the owl.

I feel that the owl will be replacing the fashion antlers any minute now. Prepare.

I worry that this clip will be inspiring Ing, Alan and B for a camping trip. As cool as it may look – I really have no desire to dance with nature. I just want to rape it for my paper and shoe needs. Sad, but true.

Hey, at least I’m honest. Give me kiss.

Oh! I almost forgot! I am listening to this as I create today’s post. Duh…

I don’t know Matty. I’ve downloaded this a while back and have yet to seriously listen to it. A bad sign. I’d like to hear in interviews what inspired this album for them.

I was also upset at them for selling one of their songs last Christmas to Target. Actually come to think of it a lot of their songs were in ads last year.

Ooooh, I can’t WAIT to go camping, Matty! Just roughin’ it in a tent! No shower, no murses, just all of us, plus the earth, plus the smells that god gave us.

i like the video, i think it’s perfect for their new sound yet it still manages to capture the essence of Goldfrapp (re: a cool weirdness) to a tee…

Gina! Yes! Just a few weeks and we should witness an onslaught of Goldfrapp-ish proportions!

pakipoptart. now, listen and listen well. Goldfrapp knows best. it’s a change/shift in musical direction taking us back to the roots of Goldfrapp with a few new twists! memorize the music and simply LOVE it! I don’t have TV! I missed the Goldfrapp ads! Can you send them to me!!?!? I now must shop Target. Wait. I already do.

    Honey, it’s fine.

If Goldfrapp told us to jump we simply as how high. The same goes for Madonna who simply forces us to love her even tho we don’t always want to. …I was amused to discover that Madonna supplies the music for a friend’s shampoo! Everyone sells their music. Everyone.

Now, we’ll pretend you didn’t write any of those nasty, nasty things about Goldfrapp!

Seriously, I had trouble getting out of the idea that Goldfrapp would no longer be supplying me with my dose of glitter and disco — but there is a hope to their new music that i really like. And, I think this lower-key CD will appeal to a more grown up audience. …or, not.

I think they’ve always sort of marched to the tune of their own drummer.

But, seriously, dude. Love the Goldfrapp!

Hot Lunch! Good point. Noted and agreed. What’s wrong with pakipoptart? i’m worried.

  8. matty03 replied:

Ing? Is that you? Did you say something? I can’t quite hear you? Something about a new murse and shopping? Speak up. It’s so funny. I thought you just said something about camping in nature. How odd is that!?!!?! I think it was pakipoptart worrying me so!

  9. pakipoptart replied:

Point well taken. I will give it another try and also try to find those commercials for you. Now if only I could get my ipod off of the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Playlist for a moment…that is a task in itself!

  10. matty03 replied:

pakipoptart! I’m so proud of you!!!! The first step is to admit you have a problem. The next is to follow Goldfrapp blindly into the aural future. Eschew the Disney musical ways and slip into the smooth velvet glove of Goldfrapp! Embrace! Enjoy! Love!

    Ing, is that you?!!?!?

  11. ing replied:

Goldfrapp just loves nature, and, by extension, camping. It’s going to be so nice to follow Alison Goldfrapp’s instructions and to get out there, to frolic with the trees, to roll around on nature’s carpet, watching the owls and the foxes.

Do you think that for every person who doesn’t listen to Goldfrapp’s messages, an owl will die?

  12. Old Cheeser replied:

Mmm, I rather liked it (the new Goldfrapp song that is – thanks for uploading it Matty!) It’s not an “immediate” tune but a grower I think – and whereas the songs on “Supernature” were relatively straightforward/simple this one’s more kind of multi-layered and builds in intensity. I for one wouldn’t mind Goldfrapp adopting a mellow sound for the new LP, I’m sure Alison G can carry it off, just as she did on lovely tracks like “Black Cherry”.

The dancing leave monsters were fab! Kind of reminded me of a Dr Who story called “The Seeds of Doom”.

Judging by the album cover she’s still as nutty as a fruitcake…in the great tradition of nutty English artistes like Kate Bush of course…

  13. matty03 replied:

Ing? I don’t know. I can’t hear you? Sounds like you’re speaking of things like “nature” but you’re just not coming through! Ing?

  14. matty03 replied:

Cool Old Cheeser! The new CD is great — but very mellow-ish pop in nature. My B seems to think it will be their biggest hit. Tho, I think he is just glad to be a bit relieved of Supernature. Shocking as it is, he prefers a mellow Goldfrapp to a disco one!!?!?

…Yes! I think I really like the new vid now! It sort of reminds me of Thriller. I don’t know why.

I think she looks a great deal like Goldie Hawn on the cover of the new CD. Which is a bit un-nerving, but OK.

  15. Kris replied:

The song is lovely!! I wonder what A&E stands for though?
It’s crazy how this ‘dance’ songs have these really sad lyrics sometimes. Did you hear the acoustic version made by this one guy on youtube? I have him on my subscriptions if you wanna check him out.

Mann, I soo hope I get to see them when they come back to the US. Not letting that slip by…

  16. matty03 replied:

Kris! It stands for “Accident and Emergency” per Alison Goldfrapp’s interview with Rolling Stone in December of last year. Not quite sure why or how that fits in with the song, but that is the word.

No! I will have to check that out!!!

Yes! You MUST see them! They put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen!
