COWBOYS IN LIP GLOSS!!!

I have been hearing and reading about this movie for over seven years. I finally saw it on B’s
giant screen plasma this evening. …TEARS OF THE BLACK TIGER is everything I had heard it would be!

It has got to be one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen! Eye candy beyond your wildest imagination. Gorgeous men and women who appear to live in some pretty cut-out version of Thailand which has somehow been transported to a time period which I think only existed in Elvis movies of the mid-sixties but, for some reason, everyone in this magical land seems to think they are in a bad western! And, in fact, they are!

This movie was huge in Thailand and should have been a big deal here, but got held up in some squabble with the Powers That Be of Hollywood…

Part parody, part action adventure, part camp and totally entertaining — this is a must see! …and, by the way, there are moments of the profound.

Who knew?!?!?

“…when night takes wing, caresses end, and love’s sweet scent flies west.”

“…A heart remembering, yearns, desires, and knowing, knows no rest.”

I think the film’s writer/director, Wisit Sasanatieng, could be cinematic genius! I must see if he has made more films since!!!! I must see all of them! I must!

I’m not sure I understand the English title compared to the original Thai title which I think is named after an ancient Thai herbal medicinal treatment. ? Not sure, but I think I am correct. If I were not so lazy I would do a google on it.

I’m tired. I’ve been sick since yesterday. But, am feeling much better now! Which probably means I will be up most of the night. Oy!

I love the style of the pictures – reminds me a lot of Pierre et Giles, gay french artists who take photographs of people and then give them a slightly lurid, “techicolour” effect (do you know them?)

Might have check that movie out some time!

Sorry you’ve been feeling poorly – hope you’re on the mend!

Joe! You must see this movie! Ultra cool!!!! You could almost just turn the sound off and watch it.

Old Cheeser! Thanks! I’m feeling MUCH better! About to run out the door, catch the bus and get to work! Much to catch up and only two days to do it! Yes! I LOVE Pierre et Giles!!!! Always have! I have this really cool giant book which is now out of production of all their work up to the very early 90’s. I think it came out in 1992. Anyway, yes! This film looks a bit like that only in moving action. Very strange, funny and quite stunning to look at! From what I’ve read — The UK version is missing about 15 to 20 minutes worth of footage due to the violence. You should secure the US/Canada version! …or Japanese!

The colors are so pretty! I think you showed me a poster for this film once. . .I’ve seen this somewhere before.

Tomorrow night, Dark Side of the Uke!

  6. matty03 replied:

Ing! Yes! I tried to get you to see the movie with me but you were not too up for it! We should have gone! It must have been amazing on the big screen! I will loan you the DVD! Prepare to be dazzle’d!

    Yes, tomorrow night.

I will be there. I will most likely be asleep, but I will be there. why do all the cool things start at the witching hour?!?!?

  7. ing replied:

I saw something that said the show starts at 9. Maybe they say 10 because that’s when the Floyd starts, or maybe it’s an error?

Anyway, I’m going to be tired, too. I can feel it in my old bones.

Yes! Loan me the movie, if you’d be so kind, sir! I will loan you Fishing With John when it arrives.

  8. matty03 replied:

Ing! It is yours to borrow! AND, I will also lend you MRS. PALFREY so that you can have an exceptional double feature. I used to own FISHING WITH JOHN and watched it on IFC or Sundance before it come out to DVD. So, I’m all set. But, if you have the Jackass series — I could borrow that/those.

Now, Ing. You are the Organizer of this Event! Is is 9 or 10?!!?!? lol!

Still don’t know where to meet you and there seems to be confusion about when.

We’ll be the two guys wondering about The Castro.

On the Second Life, “64 degrees and the ocean calling?” (or some such) Brrr!

But colors all around. The lake here at times appears eerily plastic and the boats come in close enough that they appear as though to be pieces of a lavish set. Sureally unreal.

Gina! Yeah, it was too cold for the beach today. …but I was kind of sick yesterday and then B was kind of sick today. So, we did what sick people do — he bought an iPhone and drank lots of Diet Coke.

I have always felt that nature provides the most surreal of moments. …as well as David Lynch.

Ooh! exciting. I’m amazoning it even as I’m writing.

  12. matty03 replied:

Daniel! Cool! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

  13. Pants replied:

I need to start keeping a Matty movie list.

  14. matty replied:

Pants! That could be scary! Based upon what B says, I must have odd and movie snob taste. …I can’t help it.
