THE THINGS I SAID & THE THINGS I HEARD TODAY!

Well kids, it’s been a very busy week thus far.
Not feeling so creative but jotted down some notes on/off today. It amused me to think of some things I said today. When taken out of context they seem rather odd. But, when I said them — they made sense for the situation.

Here are some highlights:

“Oh, wait! Your leach is tangled up in your skirt and boot!”

“But, it is shaved completely bare?”

“No, I’m trying to determine your width.”

“Don’t bite it!”

“Do you want to go down?”

“Is that hair or a thread?”

“I really think you should wash your hands.”

“I’ll be getting off in just a few minutes.”

And, on my way home the following four songs played when I pressed “shuffle” on my iPod:

1. Heart Attack
2. Magic
3. A Little More Love
4. Twist of Fate

…but, then, the odd iPod Olivia Newton John loop was broken. However, it is interesting to note that it was broken by an Olivia connection: “Let Her In” by John Travolta.
Go figure.

Hey, remember when Travolta and Lily Tomlin did that so-bad-it’s-almost-genius film for Jane Wagner? It was a major flop but was expected to be a major hit. Anyway…

…And, Lily did that nude scene with John — but it was hard to tell who was who because they both had the exact same hair cut? Man! I’d like to see that movie one more time! I saw it with my father when it came out but I can really only remember thinking it funny than John Travolta’s character’s name was “Trip” …odd, that. You know, this cinematic “gem” needs to be on DVD really bad!!!!

…I think we should write our congress representatives. …or maybe Oprah.

Lily’s the one with the breastseses. John Travolta didn’t have any… then.
    Oh,
Lily Tomlin naked. I’m going to have nightmares.

  2. Pants replied:

If I had a nickel for everytime I heard “Is that hair or a thread?” I’d have a lot of nickels.

Lily Tomlin and John Travolta in a love scene?? Wow … that might be too disturbing to watch.

John was incredibly hot in his day wasn’t he 🙂

  4. Kevin replied:

Don’t forget about that John Travolta / Jamie Lee Curtis vehicle … “Perfect.” I’m pretty sure he spends a fair amount of time in “Let’s Get Physical”-type spandex with her.

  5. Kevin replied:

And actually I think that JT/LT love scene was one of the first mainstream lesbian love scenes ever filmed.

I am loving your quotes, Matty. What really intrigues me though is the context. I mean in exactly what situation did you say “No, I’m trying to determine your width” and
“Do you want to go down?” Ah. I can guess the second one. You were in the lift weren’t you. At least I HOPE so.(Reminds me of the intro to that Aerosmith song, hilarious). But honestly, what a double-entendre ridden life you lead, Mister! You should be in a “Carry on” movie.

And how freakoid that your iPod played four Olivia songs in a row. Perhaps it was influenced by my recent “Landslide” post, one of the best Livvie tracks EVER and a fab video.

I had no idea that John T and Lily L did a film together – never heard of that one!! Sounds hilarious. Must have required some extra special acting on Lily’s part due to her lesbo tendencies. I loved her in “The Incredible Shrinking Woman”, “All of Me” and “Big Business”.

u sure are in an ONJ kinda mood! even referencing her in a comment on my blog! I love A Little More Love and Magic. However, nothing compares to XANADU!!!!

  8. Karyn replied:

Those are brilliant! And Olivia totally looks like Catherine Deneuve in that photo – i never noticed it before.

Your Travolta / Tomlin remark had me laughing my ass off.

Lovely Meredith – You know, I know that would be what one would think as well as the fact that he has a hair chest, but I remember being a little confuse. I mean, the hot tub had bubbles and, for a while, it was just the back of one head playing against part of the face of the other. Maybe it was meant to confuse. However, I’ve always felt Lily Tomlin was pretty — except in that movie opposite John Travolta — who, at that time, was prettier than she.

I do remember my father commenting that Travolta had better tits than Lily. …but, that was my father.

Pants – Yeah, I bet we all have said those things at one time or another. I’d like some nickels. Great for the diet coke machine.

The Persian – Yes! He was very hot back then. But, I remember it being a dull movie and not knowing who was who in that damn nude scene! Conflicted!

Kevin! Oh, don’t worry! I think of “PERFECT” a lot!!!! Especially that scene where Mr. Travolta is workin’ out in those short shorts without the benefit of support! Work it, Mr. T! Work it!

…and, Kevin, you might be right. I wonder why Lily didn’t speak of it in The Celluloid Closet?!?!?

Old Cheeser! I’ll never tell! LOL! No, within context all statements made perfect sense. …but out of context they sound whacked out and dirty!!! LOL! However, I was no on an elevator. I was holding up a piece of equipment that needed to be attached to another fixture. Wait. That sounds a bit odd, too. Yes, I thought of your post when my iPod chose those songs out over 12,000! Spooky! Yes! MOMENT BY MOMENT was supposed to be a big deal and it got a big push in the US but was quickly pulled from cinemas after horrid reviews and Travolta’s “people” freaking out that it would ruin his SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER/GREASE immage!

I love Lily, too. And, I think this film deserves a DVD release!! Immediately!!!

Hot Lunch – I blame Old Cheeser for my current Olivia Newton John needs. But, she does rock — in that mellow, safely sexy and pretty kind of way.

Karyn – You’re right! I had never thought of that ! Go figure! Once, when I had the flu, LIFETIME Channel ran MOMENT BY MOMENT — but it was riddled with commercials and the infamous nude scene was gone!!!! Noooooooo! Or, maybe that was a good thing.

“Is that hair or a thread?”

If I had a dime for every time I said that…

Brooke! I know, I think we all end up saying that quite a bit. …but it seems kind of odd when fragmented away from the original thought.
