SOME HOPE FOR AMERICAN CINEMA
I really expected to not like this film. Actually, I was worried I might hate it. But, as it turns out, I absolutely loved it. It actually made me tear up — in a good way. Sort of.
…I always forget that Nicole Kidman can be an incredible actress when she wants to be. And, Jennifer Jason-Leigh and Jack Black just rock always.

Yes, Nicole Kidman is REALLY good! I never wanted to like her (dunno why), but she can definitely act.
Does Jack Black play a serious character in it?
EEE! I gotta run.

Ing! I know! I’m the same way about Ms. Kiddman! And, I had in my head that it was a “late 70’s” period piece — it is not — it modern day up-state NY. And, upper class. So, Nicole’s nose is perfectly OK to be there!
Yes, Jack Black plays a real character and is quite effective!
I think this is now my fave film of the year.

Kidman is an ACTRESS of the highest dang order. And Jennifer Jason Leigh has always been a favorite for me. I was somewhat stunned by Jack Black. Wow on a daring cast.
But I haven’t seen it yet. I don’t want to fear that this movie will disappear to Netflix oblivion. Good acting and those stories that tear a person up in a good way always float to the bottom.
hmm.

Sounds interesting. I liked Ms Kidman in “The Others”. She did the upper class English woman very well.

Ing! Yes, I would. With you, I mean. So, if it is still here when you return from Hell we will go! But, THE SAVAGES was quite good! And, I saw that with you the afternoon you sort of saved my life.

Gina! I quite agree, but having just attempted a viewing of BEWITCHED and STEPFORD WIVES — I think I forgot. She is amazing in this film! Maybe you can see it at the cinema?!?!? No? But, yes! Am sure it will be available via NetFlix once out on DVD, tho — I feel it is an “owner”!
Hot Lunch! Cool! Can’t wait to hear what you think about it! It was one of those movies that I felt sort of spoke to my generation. …the older I get — the fewer of those there are! LOL!

I think so, that I can catch seeing the flick on a local big screen. Except, I believe on Christmas day I’ll see whatever my mother wants to see. She’s a dramatist in her own right so there may be a chance.
All this comes over on the blackberry! Woo-who!!! Up late or early (depends on which way one views time), but I’m listening to the start of a winter storm. Windy!

Gina! Oh, maybe you two will see it then! Drama it is! A local critic called it “an unsettling and powerful sort of kitchen sink drama in the tradition of Cassevettes(sp?)…” so I should think that it would appeal to anyone who loves a good bit of drama.
THE SAVAGES was also quite good but probably not a film to see with a parent.
And, I found the new Francis Ford Copolla film, YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH, to be quite interesting and worth the price of admission. …tho, it did hinge on the exploitive at times.
