FAILURE TO GEL

An exceptional cast of actors, some interesting ideas for specific scenes and low-fi production values… I wanted to like it. As the credits began to roll I found myself trying to come up with excuses for it having failed to come together to form a good movie. It should work, but it just doesn’t. So many lame stereotypes I’ve seen so many times before — actually, each character felt like she/he had shown up on the screen freshly arrived from Woody Allen’s cutting room floor of an ever-expanding volume of limp work.
However, no one says “spa” like Judith Light. No one.
…it’s too bad they didn’t give her a more fleshed-out character.

LIFE’S LEMONADE (w/ SHOTS - O - VICODIN)

Not to complain, but life’s been pouring lemons. So, we opted not to sweat the small stuff and have made loads of lemonade, but with a hearty twist of Vicodin. To be honest, it isn’t working all that well — but one presses forward. One must. And, here is the beginning stages of our living room in Oakland. I think it is going to look pretty cool once we are able to get it all together. This move really kicked our ass. Poor B has worked his off and I’ve done as much as I can to help, but it has sucked. I don’t feel like going into details but this move experience has beaten all of my previous ones combined —- and I’ve moved a lot! This was worse than any I’ve experienced. In addition to the move itself, too much is going on in our lives to have kept up with what needed to be done prior to our move in date. And, nothing makes a bumpy move go better than trying to get through it with several rounds of migraine.

Anyway, at some point you just have to laugh and try to get a grip. I’m still trying to get a grip. B is still constructing things that will act as “pseduo” walls.

We have an awesome platform which is serving as a bedroom of sorts. B built this thing in no time! B can do anything! The problem is that B has not been able to construct the stairs. Not enough time and we ran out of lumber. This means that we have to remember to carefully step down on the cabinet now serving as stairs or we will break our heads open. However, this can make a 2am run to the bathroom quite an adventure! I’ve been unpacking and sorting through all our stuff as I can. Am still on physical restriction so there is only so much I can seem to do in a given day. I have far too many clothes, bags and media. B has far too much — but the stuff he has is of a much more practical.

Thanks to B, I think the space is starting to take form/shape. But, we have a long way to go! …and, right now we only have one shade for all twelve of the windows. I don’t know. I kind of figure securing those eleven shades might be the most important next step. I’m not really up for putting on anymore shows for the public until I get this fat ass in shape! …However, then, I might be able to shake it and make some spare change. No. Wait. We’re not in GayTown anymore. …We’re in O-Town. …I’ll have to work on changing O Town’s rep once I get my life back to normal! This is part of the kitchen as of now. We will be installing an island thing soon, but most importantly I wish I had the energy/ability to paint that wall. I have the paint. This is so white it hurts my feelings!

A very sweet, cool and thoughtful pal sent us a housewarming gift. Not just any little gift — this friend sent us an HD DVD player with some kick-ass HD DVD’s!
…so, of course, our first night here — B sat up his giant plasma screen and we watched Hugh Jackman in full-on HD DVD-vision! (I could only see part of him due to the migraine, but I think I saw a very good bit of him — but then aren’t all the bits of Mr. Jackman good ones?!?!!?) I think it is funny that we sat up a TV before we had set up any sort of bed or access to food. It is all about priorities. And, that moment saved the dismal day. Best housewarming gift I’ve ever seen!

…and, on that note, I need to pull myself up and try to figure out where the can opener is so I can make some soup in the microwave.

Kisses from O-Town……I so wish this were my boom box. I think Goldfrapp would sound so totally awesome on it! …and the sunlight would simply glisten off the rhinestones in such a glam way. Or, Chromeo would sound most fit on it I should think.

I hope all the above makes sense! …I took these pictures this morning and wrote this very fast!
